Eddie Windsor and John Thoresen with wife Lorraine established the original business which was strategically located in 10th Avenue Retreat way back in 1983. It was from this location that small local building contractors who back in the day operated their businesses from small store rooms and their private homes.Eddie took his basic grounding within the sheet metal and general engineering fraternity servicing the construction and manufacturing industries. John’s foundation was from a roofing product background where he gathered his present day knowledge relating to roof technology and application. The business itself was originally intended to serve the building industry as sheet metal and roof sheeting manufacturers and suppliers.
The only business of its kind located in Retreat at that time, support came very quickly from the local builders and contractors, many of these loyal customers still support us 32 years later. Back then, Eddie and John were Salesmen, Store men, Workshop Workers and Drivers, busy from morning to night. The orders and support soon resulted in the overcrowded small Retreat based business becoming unsustainable. So it was with a vision to the future that new premises were established in Wetton from where the company would trade and grow over the two decades. Eddie’s wife Merle joined the company during this time and along with the increased orders came the new work shop and sales crew.

Our Business became synonymous with the manufacture steel roofing sheets, gutters and flashings and generally related products. John left the company around about 1992 to start a new business and would only return in 2011. The company whilst in Wetton increased its staff and operations considerably, installing Eccentric Presses and related equipment broadening our market and commencing with the mass production various industrial and domestic products. But of course the company is still involved in the field of roofing and sheet metal products to the construction industry whilst expanding their endeavours to include a wider product range.
Garry Kinnes the youngest member of our board joined the company in 2001. Garry’s background in the steel industry employed with National Trading and later with Robor set him in good stead to add to our service with customers.
The company relocated to its own premises in 2007 where it remains up till present time.Whilst in these new premises the company developed its own unique Security Fence and Gate design and also began with the manufacture and installation of Fencing and Gates directly to its clients. John was invited to return to the Company during 2011 to facilitate servicing our Fencing and Gate clients. Many of our staff still remain with us up until today. Our Sales Office and Showroom wonderfully manned by Gameedah and Lisel caters for our wide variety of customers in the roofing, contracting, welding and DIY sectors and are dedicated to supplying good service and quality, if you have any roofing sheets needed in the greater Cape Town area please contact us.
